Sandy Jane Morgan (70) was born January 10, 1948 in Noblesville, Indiana and passed to her heavenly home on March 15, 2018. She was preceded in death by her Mother, Betty Louise (Tate) (Morgan) Byerly, father James A. Morgan, and step-father Robert E. Byerly. She is survived by her half-sisters Sally A. Ratliff (Morris “Buddy”), Susan K. DeLay (Rex), half-brother David R. Byerly and 5 nieces and 2 nephews.
Sandy was born with PKU, a medical condition which resulted in a mental disability. She lived with her Grandmother Martha Tate until the age of 14, when she moved to Maskatatuck State Mental Hospital where she resided until its closure in 2001. She then transitioned to a waiver home where she lived in a community setting with her room-mate and caregivers.
While Sandy was non-verbal and of limited abilities, she was known by her family and caregivers for her spunk, humor and laughter. She touched everyone in her life in a special way with her lovely personality. Her family is especially thankful for the blessing she brought to them as they came to know her later in their lives.
Her family especially thanks all of her caregivers and staff at Insights Consulting, her case manager, behavioral and recreation therapists for their love and the care given to Sandy over the years. There are no words to express our gratitude!
Viewing will be held on Monday, March 19th from 12:00-1:00 at Indiana Funeral Care, Harry W. Moore Chapel, 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46250, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 1:00pm with burial at Union Chapel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The Arc of Indiana.
Lindsey says
I am so sorry to hear of the death of Sandra. The passing away of a loved one is always with much sorrow. May we have faith and confidence in the Bible’s promise of a time when pain, sickness and death are a thing of the past (Revelation 21:3, 4). My condolences are with the family at this difficult time.
